Fine, Thin, Aging Hair? Here Are Your New Favorite Hair Products!

older woman with long, flowing, grey hair

I realized I have not shared many of my favorite hair and skin products in some time – and my list has gone through some pretty big changes in the past few months! I’m working on choosing a bit more budget-conscious products these days.

Here are my four favorite products for fine hair for 2021!

Yes, I’m sticking with reviewing products for fine hair, because that’s what I have. Super soft, thin, fine hair.

If you are blessed with the thick, lustrous, curly variety, I can’t really recommend a thing (but I’m a bit jealous, to be honest!)

My hair is also color-treated and has been for years, and is considered “aging” at 50+. Just so you know!

Where possible, I’ve linked to Amazon. This makes it easy for you to get full products details and reviews for each product, as well as an easy way to purchase it if you choose to do so.

I love the ease of being an Amazon Prime member!

Many of these products are also available at your local Target, Ulta, Sephora, and drug stores, or at any of those retailers’ online shops.

So, on with the list!

4 Products That Will Transform Your Fine, Thin, Aging Hair

Hair Biology Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner Set

I switched to this shampoo and conditioner on the recommendation of another blogger.

She’s got really beautiful hair that always looks great. And when she described it as thin and fine (like mine!), I just had to try it.

I’m quite pleased with the results, as my hair has noticeably more life and bounce to it these days. I used to get that boost in the summertime from humidity when we lived on the East Coast, but the dry California air doesn’t help at all.

This Hair Biology set makes up for it.

  • Specifically formulated to be safe for color-treated and aging hair.
  • Weightless cleansing and hydration to bring back fullness to fine, thin, or flat hair.
  • Made with biotin and free of paraben and dyes. Biotin is known to support healthy-looking hair.

If volume isn’t your specific need, Hair Biology also makes shampoos and conditioners for extra moisture and silver hair.

I have not tried the thickening treatment or Deep Hydration Mask because I already have too many of those types of products – but I will be ordering those when the time comes!

UNITE Elevate Mousse Volume Foam

Who knows your hair better than your stylist?

Erin’s been doing my hair for four years now, so it’s safe to say she knows it well. And when Erin told me to use this mousse, I listened.

Here’s the trick with mousse – when you rub it into your hair, it should feel STICKY!

I didn’t know that, but I guess it makes sense. Anything that makes your hair feel soft and smooth isn’t going to help out with volume! Now I know, and I love this stuff!

.

I’m also happy to see that Amazon’s price is a bit less than when I bought it at the salon!

Not your 80’s, crunchy mousse, but an innovative, weightless foam that will ELEVATE your hair for a full-bodied, frizz-free style that is soft, shiny and moveable.

With argan oil, added thermal and UV protection and an incredible memory, this mousse will keep your hair healthy and lifted with lasting shine, even on your longest days.

Living Proof Full Dry Volume Blast

Did I mention that I have very fine, thin hair? The Living Proof Full Dry Volume Blast is a styling and finishing spray you use after you have dried and styled your hair.

You know, to preserve all that volume you’ve worked so hard to get.

To use this product, shake the can before every spray, lift a section of hair and spray underneath, from roots to tips. You will feel the “blast”, and you will see the extra volume!

In full disclosure, I do not use this product daily, because I feel like it leaves a bit of build-up on my hair. But for date nights, special occasions, or anytime I really want to enjoy my hair at its best, I reach for the Volume Blast!

Before I switched to Hair Biology shampoo and conditioner, Living Proof was my brand of choice, and their “full” shampoo and conditioner are fantastic. Hair Biology was just a bit more budget-friendly.

Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Texturizing Dry Shampoo

Sure, there are loads of dry shampoos on the market, and you may even have a couple stashed under the bathroom sink or in your travel bag.

But I think you should give Beach Babe a try. It’s unique because it’s textured.

You know I’m all about gaining volume wherever I can find it.

In addition absorbing excess oils from your scalp (which is the essential job of a dry shampoo), Beach Babe adds a lightly tousled texture to your hair. I can go three days between shampoos when I use this on the “off” days.

Oh, and it’s got just a hint of toasted coconut scent, too….it smells so beachy in the best way possible!

The Beach Babe line also includes a texturizing sea salt spray, butter masque, texturizing hair cream, and of course, moisturizing shampoo. I haven’t tried any of them yet, but I’m providing the links in case you’d like to check any of them out!
